A season of compassion pours over the streets of Mumbai; ‘Mumbai Rescue Night 2026’ marks the beginning of a rescue mission.

As the monsoon season approaches, SEAL Ashram has announced a major humanitarian initiative aimed at providing shelter and care to homeless individuals and people facing mental health challenges who live on the streets of Mumbai and its surrounding areas.

The Ashram is launching “Mumbai RescueNite 2026,” a pre-monsoon rescue mission designed to identify and relocate destitute individuals living on the streets across Mumbai City and the suburban districts to safer environments. The initiative is being implemented with the cooperation of the Mumbai Police and the support of Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar.

The official inauguration of the project will take place on 16 June at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s College, Bandra, and will be formally launched by Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar.

Saving Lives, Restoring Dignity

During the monsoon season, hundreds of people living on Mumbai’s streets are exposed to heavy rains, accidents, diseases, exploitation, and the constant threat of death. The primary objective of this mission is to identify such vulnerable individuals and provide them with immediate assistance.

The initiative will focus on rescuing abandoned persons, senior citizens, the sick, and individuals experiencing mental health challenges. They will be provided with food, clothing, medical care, and temporary shelter. The mission will also ensure access to mental health support, counselling, and rehabilitation services. In addition, efforts will be made to trace their families and reunite them with their loved ones whenever possible.

SEAL Ashram: A Shelter of Compassion

For more than 26 years, SEAL Ashram (Social & Evangelical Association for Love), headquartered in New Panvel, has been serving some of the most neglected members of society. Established in 1999, this charitable organisation has rescued thousands of individuals from streets and railway stations.

The organisation has successfully reunited more than 700 people with their families across over 25 states in India. At present, the Panvel campus provides shelter, treatment, and rehabilitation to more than 400 residents.

SEAL Ashram also works extensively in the rehabilitation of missing children found on railway platforms and streets, as well as individuals affected by life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

Success of Previous Missions

Earlier, through the “RescueNite 2024” initiative conducted in collaboration with the Navi Mumbai and Thane Police Commissionerates, SEAL Ashram successfully rescued 140 homeless individuals and shifted them to safe shelters just before the onset of the monsoon.

Prominent personalities, including IPS officer Milind Bharambe, Dr. Abraham Mathai, and Ashutosh Dumbe, had extended their support to those missions.

Join Hands in This Mission of Compassion

SEAL Ashram appeals to government agencies, police departments, corporate organisations, volunteers, media representatives, and the general public to participate in this significant humanitarian effort dedicated to protecting human dignity and rights.

“Every monsoon, we witness countless people suffering on the streets without food, shelter, medical care, or the support of their families. Through ‘Mumbai RescueNite 2026,’ we hope to bring them to safety, care for them with compassion, and reunite as many as possible with their loved ones. We invite everyone to join us in this humanitarian mission.”
