The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new weather warning for several parts of India, predicting heavy rainfall, snowfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorm activity in the coming days due to an active western disturbance. The advisory mainly covers regions in the western Himalayan belt, where intense snowfall and rain can affect daily life, transport, and visibility.
Along with the mountain states, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and nearby areas may also experience thunderstorm conditions and sudden weather changes. IMD has further indicated that dense fog could intensify after rainfall, which may lead to traffic disruption and travel delays—especially during early morning hours.
Officials have advised residents to stay alert, follow safety instructions, and avoid unnecessary travel in affected zones. Weather experts believe such winter disturbances play an important role in seasonal patterns but can also create short-term environmental and public safety concerns in many regions.
