Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today unveiled a comprehensive rural development policy aimed at improving infrastructure, employment opportunities, and social welfare in villages across the state. The announcement was made during a press briefing in Mumbai, highlighting government plans to allocate significant funds toward roads, irrigation, and community health programs.

The policy focuses on integrated development, combining modern technology with traditional practices to enhance agricultural productivity, provide better access to education, and improve rural healthcare services. Officials emphasized that the initiative is part of the “Viksit Maharashtra 2047” vision, targeting long-term sustainable growth.

Under the new plan, several districts will see upgraded road networks, solar-powered water pumps, and digital connectivity improvements, aiming to bridge the urban-rural divide. Employment schemes for youth and women are also included, with an emphasis on skill development and entrepreneurship programs.

Opposition parties have welcomed aspects of the policy but urged the government to ensure transparent fund utilization and timely implementation. Analysts note that the policy could strengthen the ruling party’s political standing in rural constituencies ahead of upcoming local elections.

The CM also announced special monitoring committees to track progress and ensure that development projects reach the intended beneficiaries, while reducing bureaucratic delays. Community leaders from several regions praised the government for addressing pressing rural concerns and emphasizing inclusive growth.

This initiative highlights Maharashtra’s efforts to balance economic growth with social welfare, particularly in areas that have historically lagged behind urban centers in terms of infrastructure and public services.
