Delhi Metro Launches Healthy Meal Initiative at Station Cafes

by WhatsUp Mumbai

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a “Healthy Meal Initiative” across 12 metro stations in the capital, aiming to provide commuters with nutritious, affordable, and hygienically prepared meals. The program, starting today, features dishes curated by certified nutritionists, including low-oil snacks, fresh salads, and protein-rich options for daily commuters.

Officials said the initiative is part of DMRC’s broader wellness campaign, encouraging healthy eating habits among millions of daily passengers. Each station participating in the program will offer a special menu at discounted prices for metro card holders, ensuring accessibility without compromising quality.

The meals are prepared by certified vendors following strict hygiene and food safety standards, with regular inspections conducted to maintain compliance. Commuters have welcomed the initiative, appreciating the availability of quick yet healthy meals during busy travel schedules.

DMRC plans to expand the program to additional stations across Delhi-NCR in the coming months, also introducing seasonal and regional menus to cater to diverse tastes. Nutritionists involved in the project emphasized that small dietary changes can have significant impacts on public health, particularly for office-goers and students relying on ready-to-eat meals.

This initiative is part of a growing trend in India where public transport authorities are taking active steps to promote healthy food options and wellness among urban populations
