Kochi: The IBNCC Global Business Conclave, organised under the auspices of the Catholic Congress Global Committee, was inaugurated by Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Mar Raphael Thattil, at the Monsoon Empress Hotel in Ernakulam. The Catholic Congress Global’s official website lists Mar Raphael Thattil as Major Archbishop and Rajeev Joseph Kochuparambil as Global President.
In his inaugural address, Mar Raphael Thattil said that the Church becomes more relevant in the world when the participation of the laity in business, politics and various professional fields is strengthened and guided by faith. He stressed the need to identify new opportunities in tune with technological development and to create an environment where people can grow together through mutual cooperation.
He also said that expanding into different parts of the world, adapting to local circumstances and entering new ventures are signs of growth.
Global President Rajeev Kochuparambil, who presided over the programme, said that the conclave was organised with the objectives of promoting cooperation and networking among business professionals, introducing the application of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, promoting skill development, women’s empowerment and startups, and providing greater awareness about investment and access to finance. He added that such initiatives would be expanded across the world.
Higher Education Minister Roji M. John, Dean Kuriakose MP, Dr. Tessy Thomas, L. Radhakrishnan IAS, and Joy Alukkas led various sessions.
Dr. Josekutty J. Ozhukayil, Adv. Tony Punchakkunnel, V.V. Augustine, Adv. Biju Parayannilam, Rajesh John, Benny Antony, Treasa Liz Sebastian, Sebastian Varghese, Fr. Cherian Anjilimoottil, Fr. Sabin Thoomullil, Rajeev Thomas, and Saji Varkey also addressed the gathering.
Panel discussions, seminars, presentations, networking sessions and promotional programmes were conducted as part of the conclave. Business leaders including Shaju Thomas, Jo Kuncheria, Biju Joseph, Dr. Alan Thomas, Dr. Ranjith Thomas, Jithin John, Paul Mundadan and Lynette Joseph led various sessions and discussions.
Representatives from different parts of the world participated in the conclave, which concluded at 7 p.m.
The Catholic Congress Global’s current administration also identifies Josekutty J. Ozhukayil as Global General Secretary and Adv. Tony Joseph Punchakkunnel as Global Treasurer.
