This year’s Sankranti festival has turned out to be an exceptional period for Tollywood at the box office. Even with multiple releases and limited screen availability, theatres across both Telugu states reported strong occupancy, driven by the festive spirit. Overseas markets also saw Telugu films dominate throughout the week with impressive collections.
With the festival celebrations concluded and the opening weekend delivering encouraging results for films such as Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju and Nari Nari Naduma Murari, attention now shifts to the all-important weekday performance starting tomorrow.
As Monday marks a return to regular working days, a natural decline in earnings is expected. However, sustaining reasonable weekday footfalls will be key for these films to remain steady at the box office and continue adding to their overall revenue.
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is expected to stay ahead as the preferred choice among audiences and extend its strong run despite a slight dip. Meanwhile, Anaganaga Oka Raju and Nari Naduma Murari will need to hold firm through the weekdays to reach significant trade benchmarks before the next weekend.
On the other hand, Raja Saab and Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi, which opened on a promising note but lost momentum later, may witness sharper declines due to weaker word of mouth. Still, they are likely to retain some screens until the weekend in hopes of a turnaround.
Overall, the coming weekdays will be a decisive phase, as the true box office outcome for all releases will largely depend on how well they perform after the festive period and opening weekend.
