French cosmetics leader L’Oréal has announced a major technology investment in India, selecting Hyderabad as the site for its first global beauty tech hub, with a planned investment of roughly ₹3,500 crore (about $383 million). This strategic move aims to establish the city as a global centre for artificial intelligence and digital innovation in beauty, blending advanced tech with product development and personalised solutions.

The Hyderabad hub is expected to support development of AI-powered solutions that can enhance consumer experiences, from personalised skincare recommendations to smarter product formulations. The project is also designed to create around 2,000 high-skilled technology jobs by 2030, boosting local employment in cutting-edge fields such as machine learning, data science, and digital engineering.

Officials involved in the announcement highlighted India’s strong tech talent pool and growing reputation as an innovation leader, making it an attractive location for global tech investments. The partnership was formalised during the World Economic Forum in Davos, reaffirming India’s role on the global technology stage.

Experts say the new hub could not only strengthen L’Oréal’s R&D capabilities but also position Hyderabad as a key player in global beauty tech, attracting further innovation and startups in related sectors.

Industry watchers believe this development is part of a larger trend of global companies choosing India for strategic tech expansion, especially in AI and digital transformation initiatives.
