In a major food safety operation, Jaipur food authorities have confiscated 43,421 litres of adulterated ghee from warehouses linked to Girdhar Milk Food Product and Shri Shyam Milk Food Product. Preliminary laboratory tests confirmed that the ghee, sold under the brand Bhog Vinayak, failed safety and quality standards, rendering it unfit for human consumption.

Investigations revealed that one of the facilities was operating from an unauthorized location, violating provisions under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA). Multiple samples from the seized stock have been dispatched for further testing to ascertain the extent of adulteration.

Authorities have initiated steps for product recalls and are considering license suspension or cancellation for the companies involved. Officials emphasized that this action reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring food safety and consumer protection in the dairy sector.

The operation is part of a broader crackdown on substandard and adulterated edible products across Rajasthan, especially dairy items widely consumed by households. Health experts have cautioned that consumption of adulterated ghee can pose serious health risks, including digestive and metabolic complications.

Food regulators have called on manufacturers to strictly adhere to safety norms and reminded consumers to purchase products from verified sources. The Jaipur administration has pledged to maintain stringent monitoring to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
