Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed full confidence in the innovation and potential of Indian startups. Speaking at the 10-year celebration of the Startup India initiative, he emphasized that India should lead the world in startup trends and technology in the coming decade.
Modi highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), saying nations that embrace AI early will gain a competitive advantage. He urged entrepreneurs to focus on solving real-world problems and producing high-quality products. The PM also encouraged startups to invest in research and manufacturing, as today’s research forms tomorrow’s intellectual property.
Noting government support, Modi said outdated regulations have been removed, and several schemes now provide seed funding to startups. Launched in 2016, Startup India aims to foster innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and make India a nation of job creators.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh added that India now has over 2 lakh startups, ranking third globally. He praised the rise of entrepreneurship in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, the growing role of women entrepreneurs, and the potential in sectors like agriculture and coastal industries. Singh highlighted the success of initiatives like the lavender project and Vigyan Jyoti scheme, which provide guidance and market access to young entrepreneurs.dents.
